Destiny: A Short Film Review
By Casey Gray
When I got the link for this short film, all I knew about it was that it was a rom-com in Hindi. I am happy to say it turned out to be much more: the theme is simple to follow and its narrative had a good balance to it. Short films don’t always have balance—the story is often rushed and can try too hard to pass as well-balanced.
The story is simple and deals with a tale as old as time, but with a modern twist. It’s a reminder that we can find love when we are expecting it to happen one way and it happens to come in moments we don’t expect. It is a cautionary tale as well, one where if you think you’re getting back at a person for not liking you, you’ll end up driving them further away and can create a situation you never intended to happen.
It’s really well done. The actors do a great job making the film feel organic. The editing is excellent and makes the film flow well. Director Vikkramm Chandirramani put together a good short film that has already won Best Comedy at the UK Monthly Film Festival and is scheduled to be screened in England beginning June 17th, 2018.
